Ministry of Textiles and Jute has already conducted a Study and published a report entitled "A Study on Textile Education Sector's Long Term Development Plan Outlining the Strategies in Fulfilling the Local HR Demand by Involving Both Private and Public Sectors" for assessing the existing state of the textile education and identifying gaps between demand and supply of skilled manpower in Textiles and RMG sector. The aim of the Study was to develop a long-term plan for textile education in the country. The report shows that, a total number of 55,370 engineers' (B.Sc/M.Sc) are currently working in local textiles and RMG sector. On an average demand for HR per year stands as 11,925 whereas the supply is only 5,600. There is still an additional demand of HR is 6,325 per year. It can be said that establishment of new Textile Engineering Colleges is essential for the development of present textile and RMG sector.
