Consultancy Services for Conducting Land Tenure Study within SHAHAR Project under the Integrated Food Security Programme (IFSP)

This consultancy has been provided by SHAHAR (Supporting Household activities for Hygiene, Assets and Revenue) project of CARE, Bangladesh. SHAHAR started working in different slums and squatter settlement of Tongi, Jessore, Mymensingh and Dinajpur for infrastructure improvement, health, hygiene and IGA’s Settlements had been evicted by concerned government agencies in SHAHAR Project areas. SHAHAR realized that without improvement of the tenure status of the slums more of their interventions would not sustain. SCPL has been conducted this study for SHAHAR to review urban development policy, land ownership and land laws and acquisition laws and to propose better tenure for the urban poor and to develop programmes for improved land tenure. Squatter settlements in Tongi and Dinajpur Pourashava were selected for the study.
