The most underserved areas of DPHE/UNICEF for potable water are the areas of Chittagong Hill Tracts and areas of Borguna District. These are naturally devoid of any drinking water source either ground water or spring water. As the intensity of rainfall is heavy in both areas UNICEF selected Teracha and Raikhali, two unions of Bandarban and Rangamati Districts and Chaduani and Khathaltoli, two unions of Borguna District respectively.
